Stopped by the Police (and being mistaken for a terrorist)

Hello Everyone

It is indeed a while since my last post mainly because I haven’t really had a moment to myself since I properly started my course.  I was going to delight you with some of the things that I have prepared (you are going to love them!) but I have to first tell you about my little adventure today.

Those of you who are avid followers of my blog will know that one of the reasons that I am able to indulge myself in this little adventure is because of my very dear friend P who is letting me stay in his apartment.  The only deal about staying here is that I have to vacate the apartment on certain occasions, more specifically, when he has ‘friends’ coming over . . . today was one of those occasions.  It was quite handy as it got me out of the house and made me take a cycle ride, so I thought that I would make myself useful and recycle our used Nespresso capsules (what a rock ‘n’ roll life I lead).

I was just pulling up to the store (I’m not going to say which one, you will see why in a moment) and was approached by a Police officer (there was another demonstration of some kind and they had closed some of the roads).  He came over as I had my phone in my hand and gave me a long lecture about the danger of using a phone whilst cycling. Lets be clear here, I wasn’t using the phone – it was just in my hand (I HAD however, been using it to find my way but he didn’t need to know that!).  Anyway he finished by telling me that he had the right to fine me on the spot (didn’t catch the amount).

I pretended to be a real tourist and in my best ‘I can’t really speak French’ voice, apologised profusely before asking him if there was a place I could park my bike!

Who knew that there are absolutely NO shops open in Paris on a Sunday – what the heck is going on?  I had cycled halfway across the city – there was no way I was going to carry a bag of old Nespresso capsules around with me (after all, I had to find a place with wifi so that I could update my blog).  I thought, I know, I’ll just leave them in the doorway.

I was just walking away and suddenly realised that I had been a real idiot – I had left an unidentified package in the doorway of a major retailer.  So what do you think I did – go back and get it?  Hell no, I just started walking away really quickly and hoped no one had seen me, I will however be keeping an eye on the newspapers tomorrow just in case I made the news.

Anyway, this evening, I am heading out to La Fête de la Musique so I need to sign off – there will be pictures of both that and my treats (as promised above) coming to this blog very soon.
